Why Adopt A Rescue?

According to The Humane Society of the United states, “it’s estimated that more than one million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States each year, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a pet.” (https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/top-reasons-adopt-pet)

By adopting a cat instead of purchasing one, you are saving a life.

Every cat that is adopted from K’s translates into a space for another cat that needs our help.

Please note that if you are interested in adopting a kitten from us and have no pets at home, we request you consider adopting two kittens. Single kittens get lonely and having more than one can make things easier (and more fun) for everyone.

Adoption Application and Fee Info

Our adoption fee for one cat or kitten is currently $175. Cats and kittens will not be cleared to go home until they have been spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated. The earliest age a kitten will be cleared to go home is 3 months 1 week of age.

All K’s Kitten Rescue cats and kittens have received age appropriate vaccinations and are spayed/neutered and microchipped. This saves you money. Most breeders do not include all of these services in the price, meaning it’s more you have to spend on top of the purchase price.

Adoption Fees help cover the expenses and costs of fostering a cat through their adoption day, which includes things like:

  • Altering (Spay/Neuter)
  • Microchip Insertion
  • Nail Clipping
  • FIV/FELV testing
  • Flea/Tick treatment
  • Vaccinations (Rabies and distemper)
  • Deworming
  • Unexpected Medical Issues

And that fee doesn’t count the costs for the vet visits to do all of those things. If you were to get a free cat somewhere and do all this for the animal,  as you should to keep the cat healthy, it would cost you much more than our adoption fee.

Adoption Application

Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in adopting one of our kittens or cats.  Applications are reviewed by members of our team throughout the week. After your application is received, you will receive a call from a member of the team if additional information is required. Applications take time to process. We do not do same day adoptions. You will be notified if we are approving your application or not by text message, in addition to a computer generated email that will go to the email address you provided on your application.

Meet And Greets

Meet and greets are scheduled by the fosters. Only approved adopters will have a meet and greet coordinated.

If your application is approved you will receive a text message notifying you of this. The text will also tell you if the cat you have expressed interest in is available for a meet and greet.

Once a cat has its first meet and greet scheduled, no other meet and greets will be scheduled for that cat until the first one is completed. Meet and greets are not an open house situation where multiple approved adopters gather like a real estate open house where people start trying to outbid each other.

We do ask the foster be notified at the end of a meet and greet if you wish to proceed with the adoption. If you do not notify the foster you wish to proceed with the adoption at that time then another meet and greet will be scheduled and you may lose the opportunity to adopt that cat.

If a meet and greet is successful, we require a commitment to adopt be signed and a minimal non-refundable deposit be given in order to reserve the cat for you until it’s ready to go home. Should you change your mind after signing a commitment to adopt or should you not reply to communications once the cat is ready to go home you will not be refunded the deposit. If a meet and greet does not result in a commitment to adopt, the next person on the list approved for that cat is notified and given the opportunity to schedule a meet and greet.

Kittens must be spayed/neutered, have appropriate age-based vaccinations/tests AND be in good health before being cleared to go home. Kittens will be be released to go hiome prior to spay or neuter so the youngest a kitten will be when going home is 12+ weeks old.

We are very small and entirely run by a very limited number of volunteers. As much as we’d like to remember everyone and everything that simply is not possible. Once approved, the best thing you can do if you are wanting to adopt is to watch Facebook for kittens to be posted.
